About Brandon
My name is Brandon Pinkney, I was born January 23, 1996 with a rare muscular disease called SMA ( Spinal Muscle Atrophy). The doctor told my mom after I was diagnosed with my disease that she would only see me for the maximum of 2 years. GOD knew otherwise, later down the road I had a severe surgery to keep my spine in place. I was about 10 when this surgery happened, 3 years later my lungs collapsed. After I turned 16 I realized I'm not normal. As I began to listen to my mom tell me stories of how I talked in complete sentences at the age of 1 and was so different and brilliant in ways I never knew until I grew older. Although it’s a different battle everyday with me, sometimes I wake up and can't feel my body, sometimes I wake up and can't breathe, sometimes I wake up and don't feel the same I push through because I know God hasn't given up on me and I definitely will not give up on him. As the president I’ve built this company Wheelchair Lives Matter to do basically anything to help people in wheelchairs like myself. For example, someone may not have the resources to get wheelchair equipment and that’s where We come in as a company to help those individuals find another route. Even small stuff like making sure venues follow the correct protocol for all wheelchair users to freely go to events without feeling left out or different.
